Abstract
The proposal suggests a European wide research on the formation and manifestation of vocational identity (VI). The specific European economy's strength to win in global competition are peculiar work ethics like motivation, good work performance, commitment and quality V I can provide. The increasing instability of the formation of V I, due to multiple social and economic changes will be investigated. The influence vocational education programs have on the formation of V I will be analysed. The project will be carried out by 7 national institutions (England, France, Spain, Estonia, Greece, Czech Rep., Germany). The Main objective is to effect and inspire the outline of an European approach towards vocational education, suited to educate the future European workforce in the light of a modern European concept of work that integrates the advantages V I provides.
